Everyone enjoys a weekend getaway and the Mid-Winter Retreat was no exception! It was the perfect chance to leave behind worries, hang out with old friends and make some new ones on or off the slopes. The weekend was filled with an awesome time of music and worship with 513Free and with Pastor Adam Lewis who brought us God’s Word in a real and personable way.
I don’t think we could have asked for a better weekend! God was there reconnecting with some, while connecting with others for the first time! As Pastor Adam said, “It’s the best and most important decision you could ever make.” I encourage you to “stay after it” and seek what God wants for your life in the scripture. Seek out your pastor and/or youth leaders, they are a great and Godly resource there for you!
Remember to be on the “Offensive” side of your faith-walk and not on the defense all the time. So, here’s how you could look at it, each one of you can be like Brett Favre in your faith and make things happen with your parents, family and friends. Lead by example! Yes, I know I just gave a “shout out” to Packer fans, what can I say……I thought it fit!
If you missed the retreat………Dont’ worry, Mid-Winter 2009 is in the works! It will be about the same time next year. Tell your friends! Because it’s a weekend “Geared Up and Planned” just for teens! Thanks to everyone who turned out to participate and/or help. Thanks to all the members of 513Free. It’s clearly evident God is kept first in their lives, music and ministry. Thanks to Pastor Adam Lewis for making the drive through the wicked weather from the Chicago area to be with us (without any citations)! He helped us plug-in and connect with our “Awesome” God by sharing his own personal experiences and God’s word. It was my privilege to be a part of this God-Centered, fun weekend!
See You Next Year!!!!………………..Kari Hayes
P.S. - I will be posting the powerpoint slides from the retreat (Pastor Adam said, it was cool) on this website soon. Please watch for them.

Here’s your chance to help people around the world. The Church of the Nazarene and World Vision have partnered together for the 30-hour famine. This year all of the funds raised will go to help farmers in Mzimba, Malawi. The farmers will be trained in sustainable agriculture that will help provide food stability for families and children. Get your youth group together, or join together with students from several churches to participate in the 30-hour famine. For more information see: 30-hour famine.

This past July, 31 students and 6 sponsors from all over Wisconsin gathered together with over 9,600 other students and sponsors from around the US and Canada for NYC 2007: Water, Fire, Wind. During NYC we experienced God in remarkable ways. It was an incredible time during which, friendships were formed, commitments to God were made, and miracles were witnessed. It’s impossible to sum up NYC in a few words, so instead of trying, let’s hear it from you. Go to the NYC page to post your stories and your pictures for others to see.
